Message from the Managing Director of Kelang Port Management

It is indeed an honour and a pleasure to be given an opportunity to say a few words in your souvenir programme. As a key player in the Port Klang community, KPM is always mindful of its responsibilities in the maritime transport industry and in coping with the demands of robust economic growth. The burgeoning Malaysian economy has challenged us to play a more dynamic role so as to serve as one of the catalysts in improving efficiency. PKSAA and KPM can both claim to have adopted this common objective and, together, we can fulfill the expectations of the industry.
PKSAA, as a recognised body representing the shipping agents has a challenging role to pursue. With an increasingly more demanding clientele who expect more and better services without a corresponding increase in charges, your association will play an increasingly important role in upgrading the members’ traditional functions to ultimately synergise with the common objective of making Port Klang a port that will rank among the best in the world.

The complexity of the maritime transport business demands that all who are involved in it work together as a team if we are to achieve significant results. That is why we in KPM are always willing to help in any way possible to achieve greater unity towards a common goal: the government’s objective of developing our port into a load centre.

Shipping agents play a key role in ensuring that we make this objective a reality. Rest assured that KPM will be behind you in all endeavours which will make Port Klang a load centre and regional hub. Best wishes for your biennial dinner and may 1997 be another year of achievements for PKSAA and all its members.
